I need to catch up on Dexter before the new season starts.  Speaking of, here’s a drawing I did of everyone’s favorite serial killer not too long ago.

I had this pop into my head the other morning.  So, I drew it up!
And now it’s a print!  And it can hang on your wall!

Sup Tumblr. Orlando Mini Maker Faire treated us so well that we’re going to put in a shirt order this week! So help us out, friends. Which of these designs would you be more inclined to buy? Vote for however many designs you want. Retumble with your vote if you’re feeling generous.

A brief public service announcement.

Also, bend the bill of the hat, while you’re at it.

tradersofbabylon asked: I don't know if you've answered this elsewhere maybe, but could you talk a little about the works/artists/creators who influenced Very Near Mint or your work generally?

Tons, probably too many to even mention or remember.  But hey, you’ve asked, and I’ll do my best to answer!

First and foremost, before I wanted to draw comic books, I wanted to be a comic strip artist.  Most comic book artists look up to Jack Kirby, and rightfully so, but MY Kirby is Charles Schulz.  My comic strip book collection may outnumber my graphic novel collection!  Pound for pound, I own more Peanuts books than ANYTHING else.

Schulz, Bill Watterson, Jim Borgman (‘Zits’ artist).. those guys are big for me, even if their influence may not show through.

On the mainstream comic book side of things, Chris Bachalo is my all time favorite comic artist.  His style has evolved so much from when I first discovered him in 1993, and I’ve loved and followed him ever since.

Joe Madureria, Humberto Ramos, Jim Mahfood, Mike Mignola (perhaps influencing my mural work than my comic work), Stuart Immonen… the list could literally go on and on.

I would be remiss to not mention my pal Lee, who, in the time we’ve known each other, I’ve seen him push himself to become a better artist and he seems to be fearless in trying new ways of doing things.  Learning to let go and just let the ink (or, in my case, pixels) fly has really been the best thing I’ve learned in the past few years.
